How to Cope WIth Globalization? (Priska Angelica N.W. / XIIA2 - 38)
Globalization
is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and
governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and
investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the
environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and
prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world.
Globalization
is not new, though. For thousands of years, people—and, later,
corporations—have been buying from and selling to each other in lands at great
distances, such as through the famed Silk Road across Central Asia that
connected China and Europe during the Middle Ages. Likewise, for centuries,
people and corporations have invested in enterprises in other countries. In
fact, many of the features of the current wave of globalization are similar to
those prevailing before the outbreak of the First World War in 1914.
Some
people believe globalization is a dangerous phenomenon which has changed the
world in negative ways. To them, globalization has brought undesirable
consequences to society, affecting its peace. On the other hand, another group
of people regard globalization as a fruitful phenomenon, making the world more
connected and informed than ever before. They look at it as a novel source for
optimism in the world. It is clear that this group see various advantages of
globalization.
Globalization
has radically transformed the world in every aspect. But it has especially
transformed the world economy which has become increasingly inter-connected and
inter-dependent. But it also made the world economy increasingly competitive
and more knowledge based, especially in the developed western countries
Global
education interconnects methods of teaching from worldwide systems to encourage
the international development of environmental sustainability, as well as
contribution toward fortifying global industries. These educational initiatives
prioritize global access to school from the primary to the university levels,
instigating learning experiences that prepare students for multinational
leadership roles.
As
education serves as foundational to global stability, the development of
multicultural awareness from an early age may integrate ideologies sourced from
various societies in order to arrive at well-balanced conclusions regarding
issues that surround the world as a whole. Globalization and education then
come to affect one another through mutual goals of preparing young people for
successful futures during which their nations will grow increasingly connected.
With globalization some of the challenges for knowledge, education and learning
will provide today’s learners the ability to be more familiar and comfortable
with abstract concepts and uncertain situations.
How to Cope With Globalization in 10 or 20 years?
First,
I will use domestic products. this makes me proud of Indonesia by using various
Indonesian products. by using domestic products, I also contributed to the
Indonesian economy. then foster a strong spirit of nationalism, for example the
spirit of loving domestic products. To
reduce consumptive attitudes, I have an awareness not to live a lifestyle that
is expensive or can be done by buying goods that are more affordable but have
qualities that are not much different from domestic products. This also relates
to the economic field. To reduce globalization can be done by increasing the
production and quality of domestic products in order to compete with outside
products. The promotion of local products through various mass media can also
increase public knowledge about domestic products and attract consumers to
switch to local products.
In
the field of technology and information, the step that I can take is to filter
good and useful information. In addition, supervision is also needed from all
parties so that information circulating in the community does not have a
negative impact, especially for young people. I must try to keep up with the
development of science and technology so that it does not lag behind other
countries and is not easily fooled by information coming in from outside.
In
the field of culture, I have to be selective in choosing culture from outside
by taking cultures that are appropriate to local culture. Local culture must
also be reappointed by holding various exhibitions, seminars, cultural
competitions, and so on. Culture that has been passed down from generation to
generation must be preserved so that no part is left behind.
In
the Third Precept of Indonesian Unity is not a dogmatic and narrow view.
Indonesia is a union of various ethnicities, tribes, races, cultures and
religions. Indonesia is also a part of the world community as a whole. So
Indonesian unity is the foundation of the nation that always attaches
friendship, solidarity, loyalty and courage. This will open our hearts and
minds to contribute the best for this nation. In the end, this nation is ready
for globalization, by remaining sincerely proud of its identity.
