Efforts to Overcome Globalization
The phenomenon
of cultural globalization that has been rife lately has attracted the attention
of Indonesian cultural observers and culture. This phenomenon is not only
caused by globalization which is increasingly spreading throughout the world
thanks to the advancement of science and technology. To overcome poor cultural
globalization, cooperation between young people and the government is needed.
Cultural globalization has indeed become something that is inevitable but we
can continue to preserve Indonesian culture. Overcoming this is our awareness
as the next generation of our country. If we have instilled the love of our own
country's culture in ourselves, the globalization of culture will not make us
dragged into some attitudes of cultural globalization that are bad for
Indonesian culture.
Globalization of culture is not
something that must be avoided, we can follow it as long as we keep loving our
culture and not forgetting it. The main impact of cultural globalization is on
young people. Globalization of culture can bring many bad effects on young
Indonesian children, namely forgetting their own culture.
All levels of society, especially
young people, to filter out all foreign cultures that enter Indonesian culture,
which we are good at while the bad ones are left behind. In this case we need
to be wise and filtering foreign culture must be done carefully and carefully. We
instill a sense of love for our homeland of the Earth Indonesia, such as:
preserving Indonesian culture with examples such as wearing batik clothes,
respecting other ethnic cultures and learning Indonesian dances and songs.
The
nation's cultural values that must be maintained in the era of globalization,
including faith and fear, the balance of rationalism and the spirit of dualism,
the value of purity per marriage and family, tradition, morals, and a gracious
energy of diversity need to be carried out in our daily lives . After these
values are implemented, we synergize with the value of globalization, such as
saving, science and technology, clean and authoritative government, democracy,
on time, better service, eliminating feudal and rational values.
After the value of globalization is
integrated (united) with the basic values of national culture, we as a
sovereign nation are obliged to foster a sense of pride as a nation, namely by
educating the nation's children to become Indonesian people based on the
nation's cultural values and the ability to compete in a global world. Other
positive attitudes that need to be developed to be able to play a role in the
globalization era are as follows:
- Competing in the advancement of
science and technology;
- Improving achievement motives;
- Improve quality / quality;
- Always oriented towards the
future.
The
efforts that we must do in the face of this globalization era are as follows:
1. Increasing faith and devotion
to God Almighty as a negative filter of foreign culture.
2. Increased implementation of
Pancasila
3. Improve knowledge and skills
in order to choose which is good and right for the community.
4. Improve education for efforts
to improve self quality.
5. Improve the quality of
domestic products in order to compete in the industrial world
6. Increasing mastery of
technology in all fields
Mental change towards a modern
attitude, such as tenacity, diligence, discipline, high work ethic, smart,
skilled, creative, and entrepreneurial spirit is very necessary to deal with
the era of globalization. Globalization for the Indonesian people can be an
opportunity and a challenge. Opportunities that can be obtained are the broader
market for production, faster development of science, wider employment and more
open business opportunities. In accepting foreign influences, the Indonesian
people should not be passive or take for granted these influences. The
Indonesian people must be active in selecting these influences. Foreign culture
is acculturated in harmony with the original culture so as to produce a distinctively
patterned culture. Science and technology have a huge impact on nation
building. We must accept the arrival of every new technology with an open mind
and full of alertness. In addition, the nature of our culture is closed and
makes people keep secret what they know, even though it is very important for
the development and progress of the nation with the aim of staying superior
individually.
The continuous flow of information
from the media and direct contact with the outside world will influence social
change. the international and national communication systems presented through
the media are closely related to science and technology, economic, cultural and
religious issues. This situation affects the way people think and behave so
that it can foster the nature of society that leads to the following.
1. Individualistic, that is
selfishness.
2. Materialism, namely the stream
that emphasizes material as a source of life.
3. Hydonism, namely the view of
life which considers that pleasure and enjoyment are the main goals in life.
